PRIVATE VIEW Diana Harrison: Working in Cloth

Private View : All Welcome

Working in cloth is a major exhibition of textile art by one of the finest practitioners in Britain. Although her recent work is often quiet, introspective and deeply considered, Harrison’s repertoire is extensive, with individual pieces characterised by an intensity of vision and perfectly judged technique. She handles her materials and processes with contemplation and feeling.

Professor Lesley Millar remarks that ‘her charred, burnt, frayed and stained works of today are the indicators of an artist using her deep and hard won knowledge and understanding of her materials and technique to navi- gate the edge between the public and the private’. The exhibition presents work from across Harrison’s career as well as pieces made for the exhibition.
